Meditation like anything else, consists of various levels. Most likely, when you start to meditate, you will find that your mind wanders quite often and you are unable to sit for more than a few minutes. This is because you are used to a busy lifestyle always on the go. However, one of the most important aspects of a meditation practice is steadiness and patience.
Commit to a simple, short but daily meditation habit. This commitment will carry you through times when you don’t feel spontaneously inspired to meditate. However, with perseverance come great rewards. You will find yourself longing to increase the amount of time you spend meditating. You will find yourself looking forward to your quiet time alone each day. This longing and enthusiasm will create the foundation for the next level – deep meditation.
Meditation is a process of stitching, of reminding ourselves again and again of the deeper truths-;impermanence, loving kindness-;until the patch is sewn on so strongly it becomes a part of the cloth and strengthens the whole garment. Then we're not shaken by outer circumstances.
