Finding your own path can be difficult though following someone else's path, it can work for some but it may not work for others, the trick is to find what works for you, also you may find something that has nothing to do with relaxing or breathing to meditate, meditation is clearing your mind and minding your thoughts, it is not about you must do it this way, because its worked for me,
You may find exercise is your meditation or even listening to hard rock or punk, I personally find listening to bands like Pearl Jam or the Red Hot Chilli Peppers great to meditate to and listening to every note and word spoken though not listening to the meaning, as well as walking or even sitting out in the sun with a good book.
I also love listening to slow soothing music, if you can get or find Merlins Magic Chakra Meditation it goes for an hour but that has got to be the most soothing and uplifting sound, there are no words nor are there and beats its just beautiful, had my first psychic experience with this music, it was as though there were energies around me were feeding and I could see the light.
Even while walking or doing the chores throw on some of that music you haven't listened to for years, you may totally change your mood for the better or actually enjoy cleaning up, making every moment in your life is enjoyable if you let yourself be who you are and not allowing others to tell you what to do, they don't know you but you do.
Another thing is finding out if you like quite time or if your a loud energy and need to express yourself, introvert or extrovert, The screaming and the yelling and jumping and dancing around can also be called a meditation, this can release a lot of pent up energy, then after that why not sit stare at a candle or a spot on the wall for a moment and see how that goes.
If your not the energetic type but still can't sit still there is always tai-chi or yoga if you try many different approaches find your path will be the most rewarding and emotional experience, That is what life is all about, to experience the wonders of you.
