Most people don't know what Astrology is, or is not, because they are not educated on it. The same can be true of meteorology (invented by astrologers) which is not taught in elementary schools, and to this day, the weather and its causes are not understood by the general public. However, you won't find many people who claim that "astrology is bogus" doing the same with meteorology, which, again, was invented by astrologers. The same can be said about Mathematics, which, no one would claim is "bogus" - yet, this too was invented by astrologers. See the point?
The best way (like with anything) to learn Astrology is to study, and, by doing so, avoiding the easiness of accepting the "pop-culture astrology" which is not even a pseudo-science - because it doesn't even qualify for that dubious term. Popular culture astrology is nothing, just very water-downed from the supreme omni-science that true Astrology really has always been through the centuries. Most people who are lazy have a very bad habit in consulting newspaper pop-culture astrology as if it is "Astrology" - it is NOT - rather than taking the time, and yes, the effort, to learn to read a planetary ephemeris, and actually study what it is that they are commenting on as fact... like Madeline in her silly thread on astrology, even to the point of saying that the Magi who gave gifts to the baby Christ were not astrologers when they most certainly, and factually, were.
Some basic astrological concepts of the Sun, Earth & Moon ~ Astrology is a science ~ maintains that the celestial bodies have a strong geomagnetic influence (only the Moon has a strong gravitational effect because of its relative closeness to the Earth) from the planets, to the stars, and the Sun. All magnetic influences effect living things in the natural world, including the body of man, which has iron (a magnetic substance) in our blood.
