I found this story to be very disturbing. There are many in this country who have student loans. There is various ways it can be set up to be paid back. A student loan is given to a student by the government. It never goes away. If you die, then if you have assets they will be taken and if that doesn't cover the loan then it falls to next of kin to pay it off.
But the following story is almost too scary for words. What gives the government this right to do what they did. Was not a letter of intent not sent or is it just another one of our individual rights tossed aside.
You read the article and watch the video and make up your own mind.
At 6 in the morning, Tuesday, men with guns kicked in a man’s door. He was grabbed by the neck and dragged outside, cuffed, and then thrown into a police car. The men with guns proceeded to storm the house; they woke up the man’s three children, ages 3, 7, and 11, and brought them outside and stuffed them in the police car too.
They were all made to sit in a hot police car for 6 hours while the armed men searched the home. The person they were searching for wasn’t even there.
But there’s more …
The person they were looking for was a … violent criminal? Nope. Drug dealer, maybe? No. She defaulted on student loans.
So how was this necessary? Couldn’t they have at the very least sent an officer to inquire about the person they were looking for? What’s more, the local police didn’t kick in the man’s door. The local police had nothing to do with dragging the man from his house, cuffing him, and throwing him in a police car. They didn’t do that to his children, either.
It was the U.S. Department of Education. Yes, the U.S. Dept. of Ed has a standing army of “law enforcement” officers. I know I am not the only one who sees this as a problem.
Moreover, this willingness to simply use violence has become pretty damn overt. From police officers using stun guns, to the TSA groping and naked-scanning people at airports, to the Dept of Education’s SWAT team … the U.S. Government seems to have declared war of its own citizens. The political class doesn’t see that this will cause far more problems than it solves?
Maybe things are worse than Washington DC is letting on, and they are getting desperate?
