"The only real valuable thing is intuition." - Albert Einstein
I would like to share a short story with you on learning to trust your instincts and intuition.
A lot of the time, we are given the gift of intuition or 'gut feelings' as some refer to them. This is your internal wisdom coming through. It has been with you since the dawn of time. Most people shrug it off and sometimes find out that they should have went with their feelings or intuition.
When working with this area in developing your intuition or feelings, the first lesson is to learn to trust what is given the first time around. I have worked very often with novice readers of Tarot and other tools, who question what they receive. They second guess themselves. When you do this, you are showing a lack of trust not only in yourself, but in the forces of nature that we will be provided with what we need when we need it.
Now back to the story, as I tend to digress at times. I have just recently moved and was waiting for the cable man to come and turn everything on at my new home. My daughter, MysticAngel was here with her family visiting. We both decided to 'see' who would come.
I made the first statement that the man would be in his 20's and described him and I had a brief flash of two men, but discarded this as it is only usual for one to come and do the job. Mystic received a different picture of a middle aged man. Then it was the waiting game to see which of us had 'foretold' who would be the cable guy.
The knock came at the door and I answered to see, not one cable guy, but two, one as I described and an older man as she had described. The moral here, is do not second guess what you receive. My first gut feeling or intuition told me there would be two men, but I shrugged it off. For that brief moment, my ego interfered with my intuition process by not believing the idea of two cable guys being a rational answer.
Sometimes when you receive these messages or flashes of intuition, they may not be rational to our ego and therefore, our ego fights the process of letting things flow naturally. We are all born with an innate 6th sense if you will. Some of us will have no problem relying on this while others discard it as not rational. Institutional learning tells us our 6th sense does not exist, but this story example shows that it does.
Learn to be receptive to what you may feel or see and do not second guess yourself. This shows a lack of trust in yourself and this has to be worked on to become successful at honing our abilities. Learn to trust what you receive and do not let the ego interfere with what comes into your mind. There is nothing paranormal about intuition, we all have it and also have a conscious choice to use it.
The only thing magical about divination is you. Most of us use tools and some of us do not for no two people are the same. So trust your judgment and know that you are being guided in the right direction. You are your own truth if that makes sense to some of you.
The more you allow yourself to use your intuition or 6th sense, the more developed it will become. You are the magic that brings this to the fore front.
