I love this little poem and wanted to share with everyone,I've had it for ages but couldn't find it.
Once upon a time.in a little pond,in the muddy water beneath a lily pad,there lived a tiny water beetle in a family of water beetles.They all lived a simple life in the pond,with few disturbances.But,every now and then sadness would come to the family when one of their fellow beetles would climb the stem of a lily pad and never be seen again.They knew that once this happened,their friend was dead and gone forever.
Then one day,one little water beetle decieded to climb up that stem.However,the little beetle decieded that he would not leave forever.He would come back and tell his friends what he had found at the top.
However,when the little beetle reached the top and climbed out of the water on to the surface of the lily pad,he was so tired,and the sun felt so very warm,he had to take a nap.As the little beetle slept,his body started to change,and when he woke up,he had turned into a beautiful,blue-tailed dragonfly with broad wings and a slender body designed for flying.He flew up from the pond and saw the beauty of a whole new world,and a much lovelier life than any he had known.Then he remembered his beetle family and how by now they were probably thinking he was dead.He wanted to go back to tell them that he was now more alive than he had ever been before,but his new body would not let him go down under the water,so he couldn't get back to tell his family the good news.He felt sad for a while but then he realised that their time would come.Then they too,would fly up above the pond with him.
