St Domingo Road, EvertonI lived here as a child but I never knew it had such a long history,I grew up on a housing estate that was built on land were a grand house once stood. St Domingo Road takes its name from a house that was built there in 1755. The house was built with the proceeds of a captured ship from the island of San Domingo in the West Indies. This is how it got its name. The house had a few owners who lived there until 1812,then the British Government bought it for £26, 383, it was then used as a military barracks. In 1856 it was tenanted as a ladies' boarding school and, afterwards as a boarding and day school for young gentlemen. This is just a snippet of what I found out,I will post more at a later time. Love Suzy
