For the purpose of clarity, common definitions are provided for emotional contagion, sympathy, and empathy (e.g. Eisenberg & Strayer 1987; Hoffman 1982; O'Connell 1995; Wisp 1986, Table 1). Emotional contagion refers to an emotional state in an observer (hereafter the subject) as a direct result of perceiving the state in another (hereafter the object). Emotional contagion includes the spreading of all forms of emotion from one individual to another (e.g. the spreading of joy or distress through a crowd).
That is just a scientific definition of Empathy from a paper written on the Empathy Distress Factor. Interesting read, but I just want to clarify that Empathy is something we all of possess and some of us experience it extremely magnified and if one is not learned in grounding and protection it can and usually will not be a pleasant experience and not ware of exactly what it is. Empathy Sensitive people can learn control...and yes it is possible.
If there are any Empaths or you think you have this ability and need help or focus, I am available to help in any way I can. I learned very early on and am here to help you to either chose to use it , work with it or help make it not too intense
Developing this part of our emotion can be beneficial in our everyday lives, Most people do not recognize what it is sometimes that may make you feel nervous, overwhelmed or just plain drained.
The reason is you may not be aware that the energies sent out by people are partially absorbed by people as these energies are released out into the universe. Basic physics there. All energy waves and vibrations do not dissipate over time, they are timeless. Take yourself a few minutes and think about all the unexplained things you may experience during a day. We are energy therefore we attract energy, good and/or bad.
Let me know how this little experiment worked for you and if you came up with any results. Let's hear from you on any thoughts or experiences you may have had or am having.
Always here for ya....unless I'm in bed. ;D
