In 1989 a group of geologists from Moscow went to Siberia, where an oil drill had drilled down to a depth of 12 miles [19.2 km] Something was obstructing the revolving tip of the drill so Dr Dimitri Azzakov,a renowned authority on the earths crust had been sent for along with a team of experts.

Dr Azzakov stopped any further drilling and with a heat resistant electrical cable with a sensitive microphone attached to the end of the cable,it was then lowered down the shaft, The microphone was water cooled and coated with thermo-insulation tiles like the ones used on the heat shield of the space craft.
An hour later Dr Azzakov turned on a sensitive amplifier that was connected to the microphone underground.Everyone was expecting to hear the crackling and groaning coming from the pressure of the earth. Five people were present and what they heard was going to haunt them forever.The microphone picked up what sounded like hundreds of human voices shouting and screaming in pain,the sounds were taped but everyone was baffled by what they'd heard.
Dr Azzakov said it sounded like people down there but said that was impossible, only one man present said what had crossed everyones mind,he said it sounded like hell.
Dr Azzakov being a scientist wanted to try and explain what was going on so he ordered a heat resistant camera from the Baikonur space centre identical to the space probe camera designed to withstand the heat from Venus.
The camera was lowered down the shaft and then switched on,pictures of people silhouetted against glowing rocks were seen,then every few minutes a bright glowing light could be seen moving among the people who were lying motionless on the rocks.
Three minutes into the recording the camera melted.
A blast of foul smelling sulphur and choking fumes rushed to the surface.
The drilling had to be stopped because of the many mechanical problems within the shaft,the operation was moved hundreds of miles away to another place in Siberia.
This amazing account was signed by Dr Azzakov and an aeronautics engineer from the space centre.
The KGB interrogated Dr Azzakov and the engineer and warned them to say nothing about the weird,unexplainable incident.

The video tape was lost but could the you tube video above be the sounds the scientists heard in Siberia?

I had read about this a long while back. I don't always believe what I read or see so I did a little research at the time.

I ended up at www.snopes.com and I found the article about this topic from them. It does have a scant bit of truth to it, but not what is circulating around the web. When ever I am in doubt, I always go to this site, as I read an article on Barbara Mikkelson, who with David Mikkelson runs Snopes.com, a Web site that lists and verifies rumors, conspiracy theories and urban legends. So that is where I head with most of my concerns to validate or debunk most things.

Good find Oz,I've bookmarked that site it will come in very useful.

I was always suspicious of the 'Sounds of Hell' story, no-one ever went back to check it out,its just shows you how these legends start with a grain of truth and alot of embellishment and then we have a legend,when people tell the story they add their own little bit on and it becomes a tale thats told for years.

as far as the sounds of hell are concerned ive always felt that white noise and the track electric storm in hell from 69 i think was a pretty good music track rendition of hell you tube it and tell me what you think if youve never heard it before in fact ive saved you the trouble its here
