Scrying is a form of divination that has gained increased popularity. Individuals who use scrying either use a crystal ball, the element of water, a dark mirror or the element of fire (as in a candle's flame or a bonfire).

Fireproof container for the candle (ie: candle holder)
Pen/Pencil (optional)

Before you begin this working you may wish to ask whichever divinity you feel most comfortable working with to guide you with your working and to grant you the clarity you need to get the answers you are seeking. Sit comfortably and relax for a few minutes. Clear your mind and focus your energy and intent on the questions you have.

Light the candle. Sit comfortably before the candle. Watch the flame. Do not stare at the flame without blinking. Just gaze at it, through it and around it. Watch the flame dance before you and allow this to help you relax.

As you gaze at the flame, focus your mind on the question(s) you have. The information coming through the flame may not show perfect clarity or chronological order. Ordinarily, the visions come through in flashes. Some see the flashes in their mind's eye. Your mind's eye is that area right between your eyes and up a little ways.

Do not get frustrated and anxious if the pictures do not come right away. The more you work with this form of scrying the easier it becomes. When you first start working with it, the information sometimes comes through in feelings and impressions. Do not discount any feelings you may have while gazing at the candle's flame. It may be helpful to write it all down. This allows for easier recall and comes in handy at a later time.

Once you have gotten the answers you were seeking, snuff out the candle's flame with a snuffer or between your fingers. Do not blow out the candle. Seeing as you are using the element of fire in this manner, it is a sign of respect to snuff it out and not show dominance over the element by blowing out the flame.
