Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram

I would like to talk about the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. This ritual has a very definite purpose. The purpose of the ritual mainly is to strengthen the Auric field that surrounds your body. Around your physical body you also have Etheric, Astral...and many different types of bodies, until ultimately you are the one with all that is... Around your body is a bubble of energy that helps to protect you, it keeps you physically well...also mentally and emotionally well and its your auric field.

Anyhow this ritual is very ancient...well parts of it are and parts have been adapted over time, it’s a mixture of both. Part of it has roots in the Kabbalah and it derives a lot of its energy from the Hebrew names of god of all quarters.

Touch the forehead and vibrate ATEH (thou art)
Imagine that same brilliant white light form a 6 inch diameter sphere just above the crown of your head.


Touch the middle of the solar plexus and vibrate MALKUTH (Kingdom)
Imagine a shaft of light descending from the Crown Sphere and descend to the feet where another 6 inch sphere expands just under your feet.


Touch the right shoulder and vibrate VE-GEVURAH (and Power)
Imagine a 6 inch sphere of brilliant white light appear just next to the right shoulder.


Touch the left shoulder and vibrate VE-GEDULAH (and Glory)
Imagine a shaft of light emerge from the right Sphere and cross your breast to expand and form another Sphere at your left shoulder.


Clasp the hands before you and vibrate LE-OLAHM (for ever)
At this point imagine clearly the cross of light as it extends through your body.


Hands as before, with the dagger between fingers, point up, vibrate AMEN

Now of course the Hebrews did not believe in multiple gods these are all different aspects of the one god, and each aspect or each quarter has a different name and these names denote a different type of a force or I guess power is a good word for this. power or characteristic of that quarter. The quarters are of course directional East. You start off in the East, then it goes to the South, then to the West and then goes to the North. As you do this ritual you are tracing a pentagram, a banishing pentagram on each of the quarters...so you are building four pentagrams around your auric field you are connecting those pentagrams...You don’t just do a pentagram and put your pointer down. you go through and you connect the pentagrams so there is actually a force that you have built mentally around your entire auric field.

The names of these Hebrew gods are important because for thousands of years in ancient Hebrew times, times of King David and Solomon and probably ancient Egyptian times and before these names were uttered and meditated on and because of that their is much power that has been built into these names in the astral and above too. So when you intone these names, what you are doing is drawing upon the power High Priest of the ancients that had meditated on these names and for the Hebrews those names were very sacred as they are to me.

So you intone the names of each god in each quarter and along with that there is an Angel, the four Archangels and you will intone their names as well. They are like Guardians of the gates and what you are doing as you trace this pentagram...I used to picture a blue flame I think it has now become more of a white flame.......But i picture and see in my minds eye the white flame and as you do this banishing pentagram you see it and its actually like, sort of like a doorway, an astral screen is the way I see it. It lets in the energy of that side but nothing else besides that energy of that power of deity can get through.

So as you do this you are also forming the Star of David which is the two triangles, one is inverted and one is upright and of course that is the balance of powers of opposites that balance each other out.

After the ritual I add a part when I evoke the four winds or the four powers of each quarter and those powers are elemental in nature.

East is Air..........Which is the power of Willpower...Air represents willpower these are all part of the process of creation incidentally.

South is Fire......Fire represents desire because willpower and desire are some of the keys of creation, as you make over to the west you intone the name of the West wind.

West is Water....Which represents the condensation of energy into the physical as crystallized into the astral and higher planes and finally manifests itself in the physical plane which is basically crystallized energy, energy that is very condensed and its like condensation so it's represented with water and then the North end is physical.

North is Earth....It is the accumulation of creation into the physical plane so I intone the name of the wind for that.

So basically that is an explanation of the ritual. The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram or LBRP for short can be said to be the basic banishing ritual in all of Ceremonial Magick and other methods of working magick. Not only that, it can be said to be the basic ritual there is. In this occasion, "basic" refers to "what forms the base, the foundation". There are some parts of the ritual that were bought forth by the Golden dawn during the turn of the 20th century and some of them were kept sacred as part of the Kabbalalist tradition. I have not put too much info into this post as I feel it is a journey that each individual has to take and understand.
