why is it such a bit deal to be right about something? Is it because you really don't know, so your have to prove yourself right by putting down someone else's opinion and beliefs? Or is it that some people are so stubborn, and narrow minded, that in some way it makes us feel better to prove someone wrong, and ourselves right?
Ive come to the conclusion, that I personally don't care if I'm right or wrong. In any conversation, ill talk about any side, form any perspective especially if there is no one discussing that point of view.
Does it REALLY matter if were right or wrong? Shouldn't it be more important that your learning, and helping others understand certain things, then proving yourself to you, and others that your right? This is at the heart of lots of wars, and fights, and disputes between people, countries, religions and many other things. Ive brought this point up before, doesn't it make sence to think of how each side explains the same thing? Or how each side is right, instead of having some one say wrong?
I think it has to do with your personal self. It may be your ego, or what ever you belief in that respect, or it might be like I said, you proving to yourself that your right. But i still don't think it answers the core of the problem.
I blame societies way to teaching us. " listen, read, answer, regurgitate when needed", there is NO room for our own personal opinions on what we learn in school, it is either right or wrong, based on the info they have. They don't let us think individually, therefore they are suppressing which makes us human: Our incurable curiosity, and ability to use logic, AND common sense ( right and left brain) to come to a conclusion. When we just regurgitate what we are told, thats just logic, were literally thinking with half hour brains. Think about it. In school, say you had another idea on how electricity works, that explains it well, but still doesn't go with what the TEXT book says. You'd fail flat out. Or even better, how many of you can do math equations without having to write down the work? Common sense says, that if you can do it, and prove you did it without cheating, well, id give my students a bonus, rather then fault hem.
What about at work? If you do something better then your boss, they'll more then likely take the credit for it, rather then you get praise. In my experience, some people need to be right so much, the take credit for something they didn't do, or steal someones idea. I think this boils down to how greedy society has made most of us. WE NEED more, we need to KNOW more, and we have an insatiable thirst fer the truth, so when we personal think were above everyone, we don't listen, and repent from the skies that we know full truth, because we caught a glimpse of a SINGLE truth in a book, or while meditating.
Buddha never said he was right or wrong, he said he is "one of the many ways". TO become truly enlightened, we need to throw away our own preconceptions of right and wrong.
Were individuals, yet connected. But were all different, and perceive reality different, so its natural to have varying opinions. And its natural for some of them to be similar, but people are NEVER 100% identical, even identical twins have variations in their personality. So if were individuals, how can there be for sure right and wrong?
Information is just that, information to be perceived, and taken as just that. It isn't right or wrong till we give it that label, and make it manifest itself in that way. Medical training is thought of as a noble profession, but even that training can be used negatively in the wrong hands. Its all about how you personally take and use that information.
SO really, who has the right to say what is right or wrong? Just because its the common view, doesn't make it any more right, then the least view is wrong.
