Greetings and welcome one and all.
Today I would like to talk about how our emotions can inhibit our growth both as people and on a spiritual level.
As many of you who have read my posts, or even talked to me in chat, can attest, I seem to have a very firm grasp on my emotions. To a point this is true. And alas this is also one of my greatest weaknesses.
Please let me explain.
From the time we are born, we feel emotions, yes, even as an infant, but at this time they are pure, unknown to us so as we grow, we explore them hoping to understand why we feel them. The emotions we discover we do not like, we try very hard to hide away, or control.
This carries on into adulthood. Where the lessons from our youth, have become so ingrained into our behavior, and psyche that we no longer have to put for the effort to control or hid away these emotions we do not like.
This is a great barrier, to those whom wish to follow a spiritual path.
Our emotions, are energy, they need to flow, for our spiritual growth. Think of it this way, a light bulb is meant to shine, that is what it was created for, and if you give it the energy that it needs to do so, it will shine brightly.
But what happens if the power starts to dwindle, or be taken away?
Does not the bulb that shawn so brightly before begin to dim? or even go out?
This two is what happens to an individual whom denies his/her emotions. When we experience our emotions, and understand them, and accept them, we shine brightly, for our energy, is far more complete. If we do not accept these emotions, and try to hid them away, or deny them, then we no longer shine, as brightly.
Now i am not saying, let your emotions run rampent, to do that your "light bulb" would soon burn out. What i am saying, is acknowledge your emotions, allow them to exist, accept them as part of whom you are, then let them go. Release them.
To do any less is denying oneself one of the greatest joys in existence, to truly be in control of oneself, with out limiting yourself.
I write about this, because of the death of my birth mother. We had, or i should say I had many unresolved issues that i had not the courage to confront her about. And now i must discover a way, to do it without her being here.
This is one of my lessons i must learn, and i am here to warn everyone whom is thinking of following a spiritual path, free yourself, do not let things hide away, for you may never get the chance to resolve them as they should be.
Remember these are your emotions, you can feel them, you can understand them, and in the end accept them.
This is one very important lesson, on a spiritual journey.
But that is just my opinion, that of a humbled shaman
