I own a few pairs of theatrical contacts like white ones, black ones with a star and crescent moon and even purple ones. However I will not be buying these new contacts that just came out...
If having an eyelash get stuck under your contact lens just isn’t annoying enough for you, here’s a new trend that’s sure to do the trick.
An eye doctor in India has managed to create the La Ser eye jewelry line, the world’s first contacts with diamonds adorning a ring of gold around the lenses. Creator Chandrashekhar Chawan, an eye researcher, says he was inspired by the jewels in his wife’s teeth. Isn’t that romantic?
The diamond contact lenses cost a cool $15,000 a pair and will be available in white gold and yellow gold.
Only 3,996 lenses will be made. Chawan expects the affluent Bollywood crowd to initially adopt the lenses and start a trend, and also claims that all profits will be used to help people suffering from Stevens Johnson syndrome, a disease that leads to vision loss.
“I got mixed responses…some said its looks scary, but most of the people loved it,” Chawan told the TODAY. “Bollywood personalities loved the concept, that it’s going to be ‘in thing’ in fashion soon. Look at Lady Gaga and her followers. People take time to digest [new fashion], until some celebrity starts using it.”
