I was doing another post and came across this,i thought it was very interesting and wanted to share. The well is in Yorkshire, leaving any items running the running water turns them to stone. The Legend Of The WellOn the banks of the river Nidd, near the town of Knaresborough in North Yorkshire, England is a spring that was once thought to have been cursed by the devil. Locals feared the place. The use of witchcraft was clearly in evidence, they whispered. You could tell just by looking at the springs. Anyone could see that the waterfall over which the spring flowed looked like a giant’s skull. If anyone could pluck up the courage to get close to the well into which the water fell, they would see that anything the water touched had been turned to stone. The leaves of the trailing Ivy, sticks, even a dead bird. Nothing was safe from the power of the springs. www.wunderkabinett.co.uk/damndata/index.php?/archives/1854-Mother-Shiptons-petrifying-well.htmlImages of the WellA long time ago witchcraft, magic and even curses were blamed for the results from the well.Today we know why any items left under the water turn to stone, its because of the unusually high mineral content in the water. Its easy to understand why in olden days they thought it was cursed, they had no other way to explain the results from the well. Love Suzy ...

This is how most superstitions began, by man's inability to explain a natural scientific explanation and the misconceptions of the time period.
The crazy thing is...it is still happening today.
Beam me up Scotty! My work is done here.
Bless...OZ
